Questions people ask

What percentile is a GAMSAT score of 65?

About the 82nd on the March 2026 curve, or the 80th to 84th allowing for reading the chart. A different sitting could put it anywhere from about the 77th to the 87th.

What is the average GAMSAT score?

On the March 2026 curve the 50th percentile is at about 58. In the 2005 to 2014 Australian cohorts the mean overall score was 55.7 to 57.6.

Does ACER publish GAMSAT percentiles?

ACER shows your percentile on your results and says it refers to that sitting's overall scores. It does not publish a full table, which is why this tool uses a provisional curve.

Do universities use percentiles?

Not directly. Schools rank on the weighted overall or plain average and set cut-offs each year. Use the cut-off checker to compare your scores with each school.

How we work this out

What it does

Enter your overall or section scores to see roughly where they sat on the latest percentile curve.

ACER's weighted overall score from 40 to 80. ACER shows each candidate a percentile but publishes no table, so the best public evidence is a curve a course provider hosts and attributes to March 2026.

Method

  1. We read the curve by eye at 18 scores from 40 to 80, allowing about 2 percentile points of reading error.
  2. Four readings (50, 58, 66 and 74) are held back. Straight lines between the other 14 give the estimate: 65 lies a quarter of the way from 64 (79th) to 68 (91st), so about the 82nd percentile.
  3. Tested on the four held-back readings, the straight lines miss by 0.7 percentile points on average and never by more than 1.
  4. If you enter three section scores we first work out ACER's weighted overall, (S1 + S2 + 2 x S3) / 4.
