How the range is worked out
- Each section is marked out of its questions.
- We add one right and one wrong answer to each section, so a short section never claims a perfect or a zero mark, and show one standard error either side, rounded out to 5%.
- The overall mark counts Section 3 twice, as ACER's overall score does. Section 2 is writing, so it is not in this test.
- GAMSAT scores are scaled from 0 to 100 and are not percentages. This mark is our practice measure, not a GAMSAT score.
- Ten questions give a wide range. A full mock narrows it.
Questions
Is this an official GAMSAT test?
No. The questions are our own, written to GAMSAT's format and pace, and each one was solved blind by an independent solver. ACER sells its own practice tests on its website.
What is in the real GAMSAT?
Section 1, Reasoning in Humanities and Social Sciences: 62 questions in 100 minutes. Section 2, Written Communication: 2 writing tasks in 65 minutes. Section 3, Reasoning in Biological and Physical Sciences: 75 questions in 150 minutes, about chemistry 40%, biology 40%, physics 20%.
How long does this take?
About 19 minutes: Section 1 is 6 and a half minutes and Section 3 is 12 minutes.
Do I need an account?
No. Your mark by section and your weakest area show straight away. A free account adds the areas to fix first, a two-week plan and every answer explained, and keeps them.
What GAMSAT score do I need?
Each medical school sets its own rule, and many look at the overall score with a minimum in each section. Our UK medical schools page lists every published minimum.
